Content Has IT
Check it out!
January 2006

Can you believe we are starting another New Year?!  WOW...I know it sounds cliché, but I'm really beginning to wonder where the time REALLY goes?  I hope that you each had a wonderful holiday and that you will find peace and prosperity in the upcoming year.

Well, I've said it before, and I'll say it again...It's all about the content.  I realize that there have been a few newsletters on this subject, but I just can't say it enough.  You want the key to search engine rankings?  Then slow down and take a long look at the content in your site.  Put on your "customer" hat and try to see if the content in your site is relevant to your business and then figure out how to add more.

Read on...

Google Says...
Add more relevant content to your site to improve site ranking

Top search engine ranking analysts are agreeing...if you want to know what the top-ranked pages on Google have in common, start reading their content!  That's right.  The majority of these sites have good, well-written content that is relevant to the subject of their site.  It's like your birthday all over again on these sites...you click on them, open them up and inside you find amazing, interesting and well-written text that basically anyone can understand!

Joel Walsh of UpMarket Content, a web content provider, explains that most top-ranking sites have the following in common:

  • Updating: frequent updating of content, at least once every few weeks, and more often, once a week or more.
  • Spelling and grammar: few or no errors. No page had more than three misspelled words or four grammatical errors.
  • Paragraphs: primarily brief (1-4 sentences). Few or no long blocks of text.
  • Lists: both bulleted and numbered, form a large part of the text.
  • Sentence length: mostly brief (10 words or fewer). Medium-length and long sentences are sprinkled throughout the text rather than clumped together.
  • Contextual relevance: text contains numerous terms related to the keyword, as well as stem variations of the keyword.

If you aren't sure if YOUR website is falling into this category, then ask!  Ask everyone that works in your office, ask your friends and relatives, ask me.  You'd be surprised how many people love to give their opinion.  Then, take that information and comb back over your site.

Is it worth the time?  You decide.  Let me explain what the time might mean to you:

  1. You discover that your content is bad so you fix it.
  2. YOU are now more proud of your site and are no longer embarrassed to send someone the link to it.
  3. People visiting your site will be impressed by the professionalism of the site.
  4. People will be impressed with how much knowledge about your product/service that you/your company has.
  5. Most importantly, Google just might boost your site ranking, which translates into more traffic and an increased number of customers!

The "executive decision" is yours.  Let me know if I can help you out.

Happy 2006!

Proximity Wireless
Wireless Solutions

This site was exciting for me because I learned something new that I think everyone in this age would benefit from knowing.  Did you know that if your wireless connection was weak (ie., can't use your cell phone in your office or the network signal barely reaches your office) that something can be done about it?!  Maybe I was the last person in world to find this out, but I was so amazed to know that I didn't HAVE to complain about a bad wireless connection because Proximity Wireless can fix it.
